ELYRIA, Ohio (AP) - A 14-year-old boy has been charged with murder after a man was found beaten to death during an apparent robbery at his home in Lorain County.

The teen charged Tuesday in juvenile court with murder, aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary and tampering with evidence. He denied the charges during a court appearance Wednesday and was assigned an attorney. He’s being held in the county’s juvenile detention center.

Lorain County sheriff’s Lt. Heath Tester says a relative brought the boy in for questioning last week after the teen bragged he knew about the slaying of 61-year-old Farris Jones in Carlisle Township. Jones’ body was found by a friend July 17. A criminal complaint says a bat was used in the slaying.

Tester says at least one other suspect is being sought.
