ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) - The University of Rochester is getting more than $1.4 million in federal grants for medical research.

U.S. Rep. Louise Slaughter said Tuesday the grants include $1 million to study Parkinson’s disease and $423,000 to study DNA. The money comes from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Slaughter says the research money will help ensure that the next generation of medical breakthroughs will be discovered in Rochester.
