TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Tucson police are investigating a fatal shooting they believe took place on the city’s popular row of bars and nightclubs.

Sgt. Pete Dugan says police were called out to multiple shots being fired near 4th Avenue around 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Police didn’t find anything but interviewed witnesses who said someone had fired multiple shots from a car that fled from the area.

Police then received a call from a local hospital saying a man with gunshot wounds had been dropped off and abandoned.

Police believe he was shot while outside of a bar on 4th Avenue. The area is popular among college students and was shut down for several hours following the shooting.

Dugan says the victim will be identified publicly later in the afternoon.
