SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) - Prosecutors in Savannah say they plan to seek a sentence of life in prison without parole for a man charged with rape and murder in attacks on four women, including one who was killed.

The Savannah Morning News reports (https://bit.ly/1EAO9uv ) 39-year-old Torrey Scott is scheduled to stand trial Sept. 28.

Prosecutors want to try him simultaneously for attacks on all four victims - a women raped in a hospital parking garage, two Savannah State University students and a woman who was sexually assaulted and strangled to death in neighboring Port Wentworth. The crimes occurred between December 2013 and February 2014.

Scott’s defense attorney, Richard Darden, has asked the judge to order separate trials. He says Scott won’t get a fair trial on each case if they’re presented simultaneously.
