SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) - Two records were set at this year’s Illinois State Fair Governor’s Sale of Champions.

A 1,320-pound Hereford steer named Scotty broke last year’s record of $60,000 when he was purchased by Gov. Bruce Rauner and Illinois first lady Diana Rauner on Tuesday for $61,000. The Land of Lincoln grand champion steer is owned by 19-year-old Taylor Donelson of Clinton, who The (Springfield) State Journal-Register reports (https://bit.ly/1JqRpzO ) is a sophomore at Northern Illinois University majoring in physical therapy.

High school sophomore Dylan McCafferty of Sherman also set a record when his grand champion barrow earned $77,000. That amount breaks the previous state fair record of $53,000. CME Group and others bought the 265-pound cross-bred barrow.

The 15-year-old goes to Williamsville High School and wants to become an Illinois State Police trooper.
