TOWN OF SARATOGA, Wis. (AP) - Wood County authorities say a 17-year-old Nekoosa boy fatally shot a 47-year-old woman before shooting himself at a home in the Town of Saratoga near Wisconsin Rapids.

Capt. Quentin Ellis of the Wood County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement Wednesday that a 17-year-old girl called 911 after the youth entered the home around 10 p.m. Monday and a brief disturbance ensued. It says he shot 47-year-old Theresa Coates, then turned his shotgun on himself.

The 17-year-old boy remains hospitalized under guard in critical but stable condition and is expected to survive.

Ellis tells WAOW-TV (https://bit.ly/1NFJ0q2 ) the motive for the shootings is unclear but the three people in the home that night had a “history of relationship between them.” He declined to elaborate.
