BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say a man wanted on a parole violation has died after leading police on a chase and exchanging gunfire with officers.

WDIV-TV and WWJ-AM report the chase started late Wednesday in the Detroit suburb of Warren. Police say the man drove on Interstate 75 into the Oakland County community of Troy, where officers there joined in the pursuit, before crashing in Bloomfield Township.

Police say the man fled on foot and was shot. During the chase, police say he also fired shots at a police car - striking it at least once.

No officers were injured. The man’s name wasn’t immediately released amid the investigation, which was ongoing Thursday.
