NEILLSVILLE, Wis. (AP) - Sheriff’s deputies and animal welfare workers have removed dozens of dogs and six horses from a property in Clark County.

The sheriff’s department says the animals were living in deplorable conditions at a farm in Pine Valley. Deputies responded to a complaint about the animals last Saturday and found they had no water or food.

Authorities say they got a warrant and the next day found 43 dogs living in the residence with floors covered in feces and urine. Six horses on the property were found to be in poor health.

The dogs were turned over to the Clark County Humane Society. The Midwest Horse Welfare Federation took the horses. Sheriff’s officials are asking for animal neglect charges against the property owner.
