SCOTCH PLAINS, N.J. (AP) - Workers continue making repairs to a section of Route 22 in Scotch Plains that was damaged by flash flooding.

Commuters on Thursday morning are urged to use Interstate 78.

A sudden downpour on Wednesday caused sections of Route 22 west to buckle and stranded motorists and flooded basements in parts of Union and Somerset counties.

New Jersey Transit on Thursday resumed train service on the Gladstone Branch of the Morris & Essex Line. Buses were brought in after a downed wire caused signal problems.
