BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - Minot International Airport will receive more than $840,000 in federal funding to update its master and layout plans so the facility can better keep pace with growth.

The offices of Sens. John Hoeven and Heidi Heitkamp announced the funding on Thursday.

Heitkamp says North Dakota’s airports are serving a record number of passengers every year and infrastructure upgrades are needed to keep pace with the growth.

Hoeven says the funding will allow the airport to address key issues, objectives and goals critical to the airport’s future development.

Minot International Airport has received $10.5 million to complete runway and apron projects. Last September, the airport received more than $4.4 million in additional funds to help with the construction of a new terminal building and apron.
