WHITTIER, Calif. (AP) - Los Angeles County authorities are searching for two suspects who threw a caustic chemical on a Los Angeles County social worker, burning her arms.

Investigators say the attack occurred Wednesday afternoon in the parking lot of the Department of Children and Family Services in Whittier.

The victim, a case worker with the DCFS, suffered moderate burns and was hospitalized in stable condition.

Whittier Police Officer John Scoggins says the assault occurred “without provocation.” Authorities didn’t say what the chemical was.

Police are searching for two suspects - described as a man and a woman with her hair in a ponytail - who drove off in a blue or gray sedan.
