BALTIMORE (AP) - The U.S. Coast Guard ship James will be open for public tours in Baltimore.

The James, a national security cutter, will be open for tours on Thursday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Fells Point.

The ship was recently commissioned for operational service at Boston on Aug. 8 and is headed to its inaugural homeport in Charleston, South Carolina. It is scheduled to arrive there on Aug. 28.

The James is the fifth of eight national security cutters. It is the largest and most technologically advanced class of cutters in the Coast Guard’s fleet.
