DOUGLAS, Ariz. (AP) - The border city of Douglas will have a new emergency health care facility after having lost its main hospital.

The Copper Queen Community Hospital board of directors voted on Tuesday to build a $6.5 million emergency facility in Douglas that will be completed within six to nine months.

A news release states the new facility is in response to the closure of Cochise Regional Hospital.

A hospital committee will also explore adding inpatient beds in the future.

The Cochise Regional Hospital was the only one serving Douglas. It closed at the end of July after losing Medicare funding.
