SUMMERSVILLE, W.Va. (AP) - A Nicholas County man has been convicted of killing his wife in 2007.

Multiple media outlets report that a Nicholas County jury found Paul Darren Spinks of Birch River guilty of first-degree murder on Wednesday. The jury recommended a life sentence without mercy, which means there is no chance for parole.

West Virginia State Police say Spinks fatally shot his wife, Elizabeth Spinks, on Oct. 31, 2007.

Spinks was indicted in September 2014.
