OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The Oklahoma medical examiner’s office says an off-duty Sapulpa police officer and his cousin who were killed in Midwest City both died of gunshot wounds to the head.

Medical examiner’s spokeswoman Amy Elliott said in a news release Thursday that the deaths of both Lt. Trey Pritchard and Jeffrey Grafton are homicides.

Police have said the two were shot Sunday at a Midwest City motel where they had gone to recover a pickup truck that had been stolen by Grafton’s son - 22-year-old Jonathan Grafton.

Jonathan Grafton and his girlfriend - 21-year-old Daphne Mason - were arrested Monday in Enid on murder charges in the case and are being held without bond. Court records do not list an attorney for either suspect.
