LEBANON, Ind. (AP) - The Indiana Department of Transportation says it will install a temporary traffic signal at a busy intersection on the detour for Interstate 65 after a sheriff called for one following a fatal crash.

INDOT says the light would be installed Thursday at the intersection of U.S. 52 and Indiana 47 near Thorntown. It says it’s also installing warning signs and additional rumble strips to provide advance warning for the temporary signal.

A crash Tuesday on U.S. 52 near the intersection killed a female motorist. The next say, Boone County Sheriff Mike Nielsen told reporters that using U.S. 52 as a detour while an I-65 bridge is closed had made the intersection more dangerous.

INDOT said earlier this week it has implemented other safety measures, including a lower speed limit.
