TUPELO, Miss. (AP) - Ten new school buses will soon be on the road in the Tupelo school district.

The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reports (https://bit.ly/1Nn7uaE) the new buses were purchased using funds from the district’s $44 million bond issue.

Assistant Superintendent Diana Ezelle said the buses will help accommodate the more than 2,300 students who ride the bus to school in the morning and the more than 2,900 who ride in the afternoon.

Of the 10 new school buses, nine will be standard buses and one will be a special education bus.

The new buses will feature air conditioning and hold up to 77 passengers, except for the special education bus, which will hold a few less.
