NEW YORK (AP) - New York City police say a woman is hospitalized with third-degree burns after a man splashed an unknown liquid in her face.

It happened at 5:27 p.m. Wednesday as the woman was getting in her car at the corner of 33rd Street and 43rd Avenue in Queens.

Police say the attacker call out to her and tossed the liquid as she turned around. He then fled.

The 59-year-old victim suffered third-degree burns to her face. She’s listed in stable condition.

Police say the attacker was not known to the victim.

It was not immediately known what the liquid contained.
