LEXINGTON, Okla. (AP) - Two correctional officers from Oklahoma have been honored for their actions during a 2014 hostage situation at the Lexington prison.

The North American Association of Wardens and Superintendents awarded the medal of valor to Sgt. Larry Henson and Capt. Josh Lee. Both are correctional officers at the Lexington Assessment and Reception Center.

The medal of valor recognizes individuals for acts of bravery.

Both men were involved in a hostage situation at the Lexington unit on March 12, 2014. The Oklahoma Department of Corrections says an inmate who had a box blade knife took a female employee hostage and planned to escape in her car. The employee escaped unharmed and the inmate was returned to custody after he was subdued by Henson and Lee.
