BILOXI, Miss. (AP) - A one-vote loss in the House District 121 primary has a Democratic candidate challenging the election.

The Sun Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1LmWFlC) Hunter Dawkins’ challenge says a “mystery” ballot tainted six other affidavit ballots and none of them should have been counted. If those are thrown out, the challenge says, Dawkins would be the winner. It asks the Harrison County Democratic Executive Committee to do just that.

The apparent winner Brian Pearse says he has no hard feelings about the challenge.

Elections Standing Committee member Renick Taylor said the committee has made a recommendation to the Executive Committee but he didn’t want to say what that was because he didn’t want to sway its members’ decision.

Taylor says he’s trying to set up a meeting to discuss Dawkins’ challenge.
