UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (AP) - A driver who fled the scene after hitting and killed a pedestrian in College Park has been sentenced to five years in prison.

Thirty-four-year-old Jacky Luangraj of Manassas, Virginia, pleaded guilty in May to motor vehicle manslaughter in the death of 21-year-old Janelle Oni of Randallstown, Maryland. Luangraj was sentenced Friday in a Prince George’s County court.

Prosecutors say Oni was crossing Baltimore Avenue near the College Park Shopping Center around 3 a.m. on July 6, 2014, when she was struck by a minivan driven by Lurangraj. She died at the scene.

Police say Luangraj fled after the crash, but officers pulled him over shortly thereafter and arrested him.
