CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) - Investigators say the girlfriend of a 70-year-old retired judge has been charged with shooting him in the head while at his Corpus Christi home.

Police on Friday released an arrest affidavit saying the woman called 911 to report her boyfriend shot himself, but he’s heard in the background denying it.

Nueces (nyoo-AY’-sis) County jail records show Trisha Bos was being held Friday on charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and injury to the elderly.

Retired Judge Jack Hunter was in stable condition Friday in the intensive care unit at CHRISTUS Spohn (spahn) Hospital Corpus Christi-Memorial.

Police didn’t release a possible motive for Tuesday’s shooting. Court records don’t list an attorney to speak for Bos, whose bond was set at $500,000 following her arrest Thursday.
