DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. (AP) - A Georgia jury has convicted an Alabama man for ramming a woman to death with a vehicle.

Local media outlets report that the jury found 24-year-old Dewey Green of Pelham, Alabama, guilty on Friday of murder in the death of 53-year-old Janice Pitts. The incident occurred in Douglasville, Georgia, in June 2014.

Green made an outburst during the proceedings and was forcefully removed from the courtroom by the bailiffs after hearing the verdict.

Authorities say a vehicle driven by Green struck Pitts’ SUV from behind, then pinned her when she got out to look at the damage. She was then run over when the vehicle pulled away.

The defense says Green suffered a seizure before the crash.
