JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - The lockdown at the Mississippi State Penitentiary at Parchman has been lifted.

The state Department of Corrections, in a news release Friday, said the lockdown has been lifted at all units except for Unit 30, which will stay in place until further notice.

Visitation and commissary privileges have been reinstated.

The lockdown was put in place earlier this month after an attack on a corrections officer. The officer was stabbed several times in the head and neck areas but the injuries were not life-threatening.

Officials say the inmate accused in the attack, Michael Goldman, will face an assault charge. Goldman is serving time for three felonies committed in Madison County.
