KINGMAN, Ariz. (AP) - Attorneys for a man charged in the disappearance and death of an 8-year-old girl are asking a judge to move the case out of Mohave County.

Justin James Rector is charged with first-degree murder stemming from the September 2014 strangulation of Isabella “Bella” Grogan-Canella. Her body was found in a shallow grave near her home in Bullhead City.

Rector’s attorneys filed a motion Thursday saying coverage of the case will make seating an impartial jury nearly impossible. They say Rector is concerned that the jury pool might be prejudiced by the gravity of the allegations against him, news coverage of legal issues and other things.

Prosecutors have not responded to the request.
