SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. (AP) - A Sierra Vista boy who had been missing overnight has been found safe.

Sierra Vista police spokesman Scott Borgstadt says 8-year-old Tanner Kelly was found Friday around 9:40 a.m. in the backyard of a home about three blocks from where he went missing.

The boy appeared to be in good condition and did not require any medical condition.

Borgstadt says the boy was reported missing around 4 p.m. by staff at Caring Connections, a facility that provides programs for children with special needs or who are in the foster care.

According to employees there, Tanner had left a note saying he was tired of being in the foster care system and wanted to go to his grandmother’s in Willcox.

Investigators are trying to determine where he spent the entire night.
