LA GRULLA, Texas (AP) - Investigators say two men have been killed and two others wounded in South Texas gunfire blamed on a suspect who then fled.

The Starr County Sheriff’s Office says the shootings happened Thursday night near La Grulla (luh GROOL’-yuh).

Authorities on Friday identified one of the men who died as 23-year-old Efrain Trevino of Rio Grande City. The name of the other slain man wasn’t immediately released.

Officers responding to calls about gunfire near a highway located a wounded man. Two men were found shot to death inside a pickup truck near the Rio Grande. The other wounded man was near the vehicle. Both injured men were transported to hospitals.

Authorities are seeking a motive for the shootings. Officials didn’t immediately release information on a possible suspect.
