EUGENE, Ore. (AP) - A Springfield couple whose three children were killed in a crosswalk plan to file a wrongful death and personal injury lawsuit against various government agencies.

The Register-Guard newspaper reports (https://is.gd/lidnyn ) an attorney representing James and Cortney Hudson filed a tort-claim notice this week with the city of Springfield, Lane County and the state Department of Transportation and Department of Administrative Services.

The notice doesn’t include any specific dollar amount that would be sought, but lists several potential safety upgrades for the intersection where the children - all younger than 10 - were struck by a pickup Feb. 22.

Prosecutors declined to file criminal charges against the driver who hit the children after running a red light. The driver, who was not intoxicated, told police he thought the light was green.
