ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Police have arrested a third suspect in the fatal drive-by shooting of an Albuquerque teenager two months ago.

Albuquerque police say a 16-year-old boy who already was in custody on unrelated charges has been booked into a juvenile jail on an open count of murder.

Police previously announced the arrests of 21-year-old Christopher Cruz and 18-year-old Donovan Maez in the case.

Maez is the son of Democratic Rep. Stephanie Maez of Albuquerque.

He and Cruz are accused of firing shots from a vehicle at a home on June 26, killing 17-year-old Jaydon Chavez-Silver.

Police believe the shooting may have been motivated by retaliation.

Maez reportedly was beaten up in a fight a month earlier at the home and a young man there allegedly owed Maez’s friend $500 for drugs.
