ABERDEEN, S.D. (AP) - Sanford Health is making a $2 million donation to Northern State University and becoming the exclusive sports medicine provider for the school’s athletes.

The school in Aberdeen says the donation will fund programs of the Northern State University Foundation and Wolves Club, which provides scholarships for student-athletes.

The Dakotas-based medical system will immediately begin providing sports medicine services to NSU’s 380 student-athletes.

NSU Director of Athletics Josh Moon says this partnership will increase the athletic training and physician support available to the school’s athletes. He adds that the money will also allow the school to provide up to 12 new full athletic scholarships every year.

The medical system runs a full-service regional hospital in Aberdeen.
