MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - The Vermont Department of Labor says the state’s unemployment rate held steady last month at 3.6 percent.

The state says the rate was the fourth lowest in the country and it was the 10th consecutive month without an increase in the state’s unemployment rate.

The new figure compares to an unemployment rate of 4.1 percent in July 2014.

Unemployment in Vermont’s 17 labor markets ranged from a low of 3 percent in the Burlington area to a high of 4.9 percent in Derby.

Labor Commissioner Annie Noonan says there is strong demand from Vermont employers for workers in many areas and anyone looking for work or a career change should visit their local Vermont Department of Labor Resource Center.
