GREENVILLE, Pa. (AP) - Officials say a western Pennsylvania police officer who worked as a D.A.R.E. instructor for several years and his son were killed in a two-vehicle morning accident.

State police say 41-year-old Jeremiah Christner and an unidentified passenger died in the crash that occurred around 9:50 a.m. Thursday along Greenville-Sheakleyville Road.

Greenville-West Salem Police Department officials say Christner, a 10-year veteran of the department, was accompanied by his son - whose name and age weren’t released.

Police say Christner lost control of his sport-utility vehicle while rounding a curve and collided with an oncoming truck. The truck driver and his passenger were transported to an area hospital. Their conditions were not available.

Christner was not on duty at the time of the crash.
