DAYTON, Ohio (AP) - Mass shootings have led community leaders in western Ohio to educate people on how they can protect themselves when faced with an active shooter.

The Dayton Daily News (https://bit.ly/1JmNA8D) reports a forum is set for Saturday afternoon at St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church in Dayton. It will also include information on natural disaster planning.

Rev. David Fox, a forum presenter and retired Wilberforce University Police chief, says one of the main goals of the forum is to get churches to create an emergency operations plan.

The forum comes after mass shootings this year including at a Charleston, South Carolina, church where nine people were killed.

Trotwood City Councilwomen Mary McDonald and Bettye Gales are organizing the forum.
