PORTLAND, Maine (AP) - A Westbrook man has been convicted of posing as a police officer to intimidate prostitutes into having sex with him for free.

A jury on Thursday found 35-year-old Jason Foster guilty of eight of eighteen counts against him after a three-day trial. Foster was convicted of two counts of gross sexual assault, four counts of impersonating a public servant and two counts of engaging a prostitute.

The Portland Press Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1PrO2Hj ) that his attorney said Foster admitted to finding the four women online and hiring them for sex but denied impersonating a police officer or forcing them to have sex with him.

Foster was being held without bail. A sentencing date has not yet been set.
