PITT, Ohio (AP) - Authorities say passengers on a packed chartered bus have successfully steered the vehicle away from oncoming traffic in northern Ohio after the driver lost consciousness.

Wyandot County Sheriff Mike Hetzel tells the Daily Chief-Union the bus was headed north on U.S. 23 in Pitt Township when it crossed the median into southbound traffic around 2 p.m. Friday. The bus stopped after striking a guardrail.

Witnesses say a nurse on the bus performed CPR on the driver, identified as Richard Hall of Toledo, before he was transported to a hospital. There was no word on his condition.

No one was injured as a result of the crash.

The bus carried more than four dozen union members returning from a rally in Columbus, about 60 miles south of the crash site.
