PROVO, Utah (AP) - The skateboard-like sprint racing called “push racing” is coming to Utah.

The Daily Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1EbrPwI ) that the first push race in the state will be held at Utah Valley University in Orem on Aug. 29.

The event is called a push race because the racers are propelled by their pushing power while riding on longboards, which are similar to skateboards but longer.

Anyone can register to race at Saturday’s flat course event, which offers a prize of $2,000.

It is being held by the university’s Enactus, a group of student, academic and business leaders who support entrepreneurship that helps people.

Enactus president Brand Reas says the push race is being held to generate awareness of his group and to provide a unique racing environment for longboarders in Utah Valley.
