DUNGANNON, Va. (AP) - Authorities say 33 students have been injured in two school bus wrecks in Virginia.

Virginia State Police spokeswoman Corinne Geller says a school bus ran off Route 250 and hit a tree in Augusta County on Tuesday morning. Twenty-one students suffered minor injuries. The driver, 65-year-old Daniel W. Dull, was seriously injured.

Geller says the bus hit a guardrail after it encountered a work zone that reduced traffic to one lane. The driver overcorrected and the bus ran off the road.

On Monday, 12 students in Scott County were injured when a school bus ran off the road and hit a rock cliff wall. Geller says four students suffered serious injuries.

The driver, 48-year-old David M. Kinkead of Fort Blackmore, wasn’t injured. He was charged with failure to maintain control.
