LOS ANGELES (AP) - Newly released salary data shows that the second-highest paid Los Angeles County employee made almost $790,000 in 2014, but didn’t attend work a single day.

The Los Angeles Daily News reports (https://bit.ly/1NRaCIM ) that according to salary data from L.A. County, former Chief Medical Officer of Harbor-UCLA Medical Center Dr. Gail Anderson Jr. was paid more than $787,200 in pay and benefits in 2014. His pay included salary and benefits from part of 2012, all of 2013 and part of 2014 as part of a settlement with the county as a result of his 2012 termination.

Anderson was fired in July 2012. He challenged the firing and filed a defamation lawsuit. As part of his settlement, he received back pay and was reinstated at the hospital. He then decided to retire.
