LOS ANGELES (AP) - A driver convicted of stealing more than $1 million from his own armored truck in Los Angeles has been sentenced to nearly five years in prison.

Cesar Yanez of Fontana was sentenced in federal court on Tuesday. He pleaded guilty to bank larceny in April.

Prosecutors say Yanez and another Loomis driver, Aldo Vega of Pomona, were transporting a multimillion-dollar shipment of cash for Bank of America last June when they stopped in a parking lot, opened the rear doors of their truck and stole more than $1 million.

Only $110,000 has been recovered.

Aldo has been convicted in the case and is awaiting sentencing.

Yanez’s wife, Jovita (hoh-VEE’-tuh) Guzman, is charged with helping to hide and disperse some of the money. She’s set for trial in October.
