CHARLESTOWN, R.I. (AP) - Police in Rhode Island say a 71-year-old man found dead in a tree may have been struck by a limb he was trying to trim with a saw.

Charlestown Police Lt. Patrick McMahon tells The Westerly Sun (https://bit.ly/1LyEQD5 ) police and emergency workers were called to the home around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday believing the man was stuck in the tree. Rescue personnel determined the man may have been hit by a tree limb that broke off and pinned him. He was confirmed dead at the scene.

A tree service was called in to remove the limb that pinned him.

McMahon did not release the name of the man until family members could be notified.
