BATESVILLE, Ark. (AP) - Lyon College will play its first official football game in 64 years this weekend when Tabor College visits.

Lyon’s board of trustees voted in 2013 to reinstate football. Last year more than six dozen players went through a simulated season that included intra-squad scrimmages. This year’s team has 94 players, including 54 true freshmen and only one senior.

Tabor, from Hillsboro, Kansas, visits Batesville on Saturday. Tabor is ranked 22nd in the NAIA national rankings after a 7-4 season last year.

The last time Lyon College played football - in 1951 - it was known as Arkansas College.

Lyon’s home games will be played at Batesville High School.
