MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Voter registration and photo I.D. application events are being held in several Alabama counties in the coming week.

The Alabama Secretary of State’s office says a registration event is set for 10 a.m. Aug. 25 at the Midland City Town Hall in Dale County. Another event is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the Ardmore Town Hall in Limestone County. Officials say an additional event is set for 6 p.m. Aug. 29 at Music on the Mountain in DeKalb and Jackson counties.

Alabamians must present valid photo ID, which include driver’s licenses, federally issued ID cards, U.S. passports and more, to participate in elections.

Officials say residents may apply for a free photo voter ID if they’re registered to vote, but don’t have a valid photo ID.
