The resignations this month of University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign Chancellor Phyllis Wise and Provost Ilesanmi Adesida bring to six the number of top-level administrators who’ve left the university since 2009 and either have or are expected to jump into faculty jobs.

Most have contracts that left them take a paid year off, then step into some of the highest-paying faculty jobs at the university. A look at those administrators and what they’re paid once they join the faculty:

NEXT JOB? She’ll take a year away with pay - $365,354 - and then join the faculty as a professor at $298,926 under a nine-month faculty contract.

BONUS: University had considered paying out a $400,000 prorated portion of a $500,000 retention bonus due after five years on the job, but decided not to.
