PHOENIX (AP) - An Arizona Department of Economic Security employee has been arrested for allegedly using an electronic benefits transaction card to obtain food stamps.

DES officials say Angela Engram is accused of using an EBT card issued to a client who is incarcerated and no longer eligible to receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits.

Engram also allegedly submitted a renewal application for the card in order to obtain additional food stamps.

DES says Engram is the program service evaluator for the Division of Benefits and Medical Eligibility of the Family Assistance Administration.

They say Engram is seen on surveillance video using the EBT card on multiple occasions.

She was arrested Wednesday after being interviewed by DES authorities and taken to the Buckeye Police Department.

It’s unclear if she has a lawyer yet.
