LOGAN, Utah (AP) - Bail has been set at $500,000 for the 27-year-old Utah State University student facing rape charges.

The Herald Journal reports (https://bit.ly/1K2oRx0 ) that 27-year-old Jason Relopez was arrested in July after two women told police he raped them.

Relopez’s attorney, Shannon Demler, argued for lower bail, saying the Sigma Chi fraternity member isn’t dangerous.

A 19-year-old woman told police Relopez raped multiple times last month. Another woman, age 20, told police she had been doing homework with Relopez when they started making out. She says she told him she didn’t want to have sex but he raped her.

The prosecutor argued for higher bail, citing a third woman who says Relopez violently raped her while she was unconscious.

The Associated Press generally does not name people who make allegations of sexual assault.
