CARSON, Calif. (AP) - LA Galaxy defender Todd Dunivant says he will retire after the season.

The five-time MLS Cup champion made his announcement Wednesday.

The 34-year-old Dunivant has played for San Jose, the New York Red Bulls, Toronto FC and the Galaxy during his 13-year career. Along with his five MLS titles, he has been a part of two Supporters’ Shield-winning teams and a U.S. Open Cup title.

He was named to MLS’ Best XI in 2011.

The Stanford product started his career with the Earthquakes in 2003, but Dunivant had most of his success during two stints with the Galaxy.

The left back won MLS Cup titles in 2005, 2011, 2012 and 2014, although injuries limited him to seven appearances last year.

Only Landon Donovan has won more titles in MLS history.
