GEDDES, N.Y. (AP) - The new music venue overlooking the shores of Onondaga Lake outside Syracuse is ready for its debut performance.

Onondaga County Executive Joanie Mahoney announced Tuesday that the Lakeview Amphitheater in Geddes is complete. Construction began in mid-February, with the final cost of the facility coming in at $49.3 million.

Country music star Miranda Lambert will be the first act to hit the stage when she performs on Sept. 3. Lambert’s performance will be the county-owned venue’s first and only show this season. Mahoney says the amphitheater will host at least 20 shows next year.

The amphitheater’s pavilion seats about 5,000 people, while the lawn can accommodate about 12,500.

A bike trail around the lake cuts directly through the amphitheater. During concerts, bicyclists will be re-routed to the venue’s main gate.
