WINCHESTER, N.H. (AP) - A New Hampshire man has been arrested after doctors determined his 3-month-old son’s injuries were caused by blunt force trauma.

WMUR-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1i1Reii ) 23-year-old Jeffrey Roy, of Winchester, has been charged with assault.

Investigators say the baby remains hospitalized with bleeding on the brain and in the eyes.

Roy told police he picked up the baby too quickly, but doctors said the baby’s hemorrhaging did not appear accidental.

Authorities say the injuries happened Wednesday night. Roy took the baby to a hospital with a fever saying the boy had been acting lethargic and had suffered a seizure.

Roy previously pleaded guilty to reckless conduct after running from police and driving his car into oncoming traffic while the baby was in the backseat.

He is being held on $25,000 bail.
