JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - The secretary of state’s office will auction 360 parcels of tax-forfeited property in the City of Jackson and surrounding Hinds County.

The secretary of state’s office says in a new release that the properties will be advertised for public bidding beginning Thursday on the website, https://www.sos.ms.gov/PublicLands/Jackson . Sealed bids must be received in the secretary of state’s office by 5 p.m. Sept. 17. Bids will be opened at 10 a.m. on Sept. 18.

The 360 parcels being offered at auction in Jackson/Hinds County are valued at more than $14.6 million.

Statewide, the secretary of state’s office currently holds more than $84 million of property - 13,300 parcels - forfeited to the State of Mississippi for non-payment of property taxes. Of these, almost 3,800 properties are located in Hinds County.
