PRATTVILLE, Ala. (AP) - Authorities say an Alabama Department of Corrections inmate was killed after being hit by a tractor-trailer.

AL.com reports (https://bit.ly/1EkyGUx) 21-year-old Braxton Moon of Alexander City was struck and killed on Interstate 65 Wednesday afternoon about 10 miles north of Prattville.

Authorities say Moon was assisting with road maintenance around 1:25 p.m. when he was hit by the tractor-trailer. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A statement from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency says a truck being used by the road crew was also struck in the crash.

Court records show Moon was serving a sentence for felony first-degree burglary from 2013. It is unclear when he was scheduled to be released.

The agency is continuing to investigate the crash.
